Meet our Conscious Pathways Team

Vicki Madden, MFTC

Hi there! I’m Vicki Madden. I am a marriage and family therapist and I specialize in couples therapy and helping folks navigate relationship issues.

My Background

I completed my training at Regis University’s Marriage and Family Therapy Program. This strong program helped me learn how to show up authentically as your therapist! I am both profoundly compassionate and also, direct. You will know right from the start that I see your heart, and you can trust that I will give feedback when necessary.

My Approach

My therapeutic approach and style is to always show up as myself, inside or outside the therapy room. I tell you what I’m thinking, seeing, and feeling. I believe you deserve the same level of human authenticity from me that I am asking from you.

I care deeply and genuinely for you as clients. I’m committed to thinking, learning, and assessing in and out of session to be able to help you in your unique experience of life & relationships. I believe I have the best job in the world as I get to witness and connect with other humans as they share and experience their vulnerability.

Full disclosure: I came to this field by way of my own experience!

I want you to know that I know what it’s like to be on the other side of the couch. I know how lonely it feels to be so disconnected from your partner, and the exhaustion of experiencing the same fight over and over.

My partner and I went to couples therapy early in our relationship. We had just moved to Colorado and I remember feeling so isolated when we would fight, which kept feeling more and more frequent. The loneliness made me even more anxious in how I was behaving which continued the exhausting cycle.

My experience in couples therapy was life-changing and transformed our relationship into something I could have only dreamt of experiencing. The security, the ability to communicate exactly what I need and mean, the ability to take accountability for myself, and the overall safety I was able to experience with my partner. Don’t get me wrong, it was a challenging process. In fact, at times it was some of the most painful experiences to sit through. But somehow I felt eager to meet each week as I was so motivated by the change we were experiencing.

I found that healing truly happens in relationships and I knew that I was meant to take this experience and help others find a similar path in their relationship. My partner and I continue to use the things we have learned together, many years later, and I want to share that with you! I am always continually learning and growing in my own relationship and will use myself as an example in our sessions when necessary.

More on Me

I’m originally from Long Island, New York, from a large, split family where I am the oldest of 6 kids. Moving to Colorado and away from my family forced me to open myself up to new possibilities and grow into a much more authentic version of myself.

Outside of therapy you’ll find me…

-Camping or backpacking! I love to explore new places while being inaccessible to the outside world to be present with my partner, friends, and our two german shepherds, Moose and Bear.

-Hosting game nights and bbqs as a way to gather friends together to connect!

-Doing some sort of crafting! I love to create Macrame and I’ll occasionally do a craft fair or market to sell some of my stuff!

-Building and restoring furniture! My partner is a woodworker so we will often do projects together. I love the process of restoring the beauty in something to make it unique!
