Meet our Conscious Pathways Team
Julie Young, MFT-C
Hi, I’m Julie! I’m a couples therapist who helps couples slow down, understand each other more deeply, and build a relationship that feels like home again.
Are you a couple beginning to recognize that old strategies no longer fit- a partner who wants something different but isn’t sure where or how to start?
I can show you the way! Come walk with me. I’ll help you rebuild trust, deepen empathy, and relearn how to turn toward each other again.
I’ll be a good fit for you if you are brave! Ready to disrupt old patterns! Ready to take a deeper look at what you are contributing to the situation. Ready to learn how to be a better lover and partner.
Contact me directly today via this web form. Or feel free to schedule a complimentary 20-minute consultation directly on my schedule via the “Schedule a Consultation” button.
How I work:
I bring grounded humor and patience to our sticky emotional moments together. With me, you will learn to expertly navigate the more conflictual, challenging spaces of your relationship with curiosity, grace, and levity.
Clients describe me as steady, grounded, warm, and quietly humorous. I have a big capacity to hold deep emotion with you: fear, grief, joy, anger. And I can help you access the compassion you often struggle to extend toward yourself.
For my work with individuals, I draw from relational health approaches – like boundary work, assertiveness training, and family dynamic understanding.
I also use somatic therapies, mindfulness, and experiential work. These modalities allow us to not just talk about emotions, but to feel them, move them, and understand what the body is communicating.
At Conscious Pathways, we welcome the full spectrum of emotion. Nothing is too big or too messy. Healing happens when every part of you – mind, heart, history, and nervous system – gets to be in the room.
How I got here:
My path to therapy started long before I officially trained. I spent many years as a special education teacher. What I loved most were the relationships: getting to know families, holding complexity, and witnessing resilience.
When I began my own personal therapeutic work, I realized that sitting with people in their truth was where I felt most alive! Becoming a therapist felt less like switching careers and more like stepping into who I was always meant to be!
I earned my Master’s at CU Denver and completed my Marriage and Family Therapy Certificate through Denver Family Institute, a program rooted in relational and experiential learning with a strong social justice focus.
That post-grad training taught me to listen beneath the words, attune to emotional undercurrents, and help couples interrupt patterns with compassion rather than blame.
Why Conscious Pathways
I chose to practice at Conscious Pathways because their mission aligns with the way I believe healing actually works. We treat the whole person here, not just the problem.
And Conscious Pathways clients are brave, ready for change, and eager to break patterns that aren’t serving them anymore.
Your relationship is one of the most emotionally intense spaces in your life! All our work is done with nervous-system awareness, helping you navigate both the fond, loving spaces and the challenging, triggering spaces.
I can teach you how to navigate all the different emotions in your individual body and also between each other, learning both emotional regulation skills and communication skills.
We will build up your toolbox and actually practice in session to see what it FEELS like to make a dynamic change in your communication.
Kate, the founder, uses an experiential, whole-body approach to healing, and it’s why I knew this is the place I wanted to work and help folks heal. Conscious Pathways is also on the cutting edge of integrating psychedelic healing into our approach.
Although I can’t directly offer psychedelic-assisted therapy, you can receive that care here at Conscious Pathways, and I can help you navigate the opportunity if you want to explore that option!
Why work with me?
All the therapists at Conscious Pathways are expertly trained in couples and individual therapy. However, my specific life experience as a teacher, mother, and wife certainly gives me an edge.
I came into this profession later in life, after raising children with significant needs, adoption, neurodivergence, and autism. These experiences shaped the therapist I am now.
I know what it means to navigate being emotionally overwhelmed, to rebuild in real time, and to show up for others while still learning how to show up for myself.
Being a mom and a second-career therapist brings so much lived experience, humility, steadiness, and a deep appreciation for the way layered human relationships truly are.
I understand that life rarely moves in straight lines, and I bring that compassion into every session. Clients often tell me they feel grounded with me, and I believe these understandings learned through my experience are part of the reason why.
So I know I can meet you where you are, both as a professional and as a human being.
More about me…
Outside of work, I recharge through yoga, long walks with my dog or a close friend, traveling with my husband and teenagers, and laughing through a great comedy special.
I’m learning tennis and training for a rim-to-rim Grand Canyon hike. Parenting and midlife have taught me resilience and shaped my belief that strength often appears in the moments we least expect!
My hope is that when you sit with me, you feel safe to be fully yourself.
Whether you’re overwhelmed, disconnected, or just ready for a change, I would be honored to walk alongside you on your healing journey.
